Welcome.
I am an independent consultant Chartered Building Pathologist and Surveyor for the built environment. I carry out a full spectrum of buildng surveys, but specialise in mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP) infrastructure.
With a background rooted in building physics, forensic engineering diagnostics, and environmental science, I provide objective, high-level technical scrutiny to de-risk construction projects, resolve operational system failures, assist building clients, Low Zero Carbon managers and protect long-term asset value.
Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health systems are the essential services that bring a building to life, often accounting for up to 60% of its total capital construction cost.
Mechanical services encompass the critical systems regulating the building's internal environment, including heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic water services, and complex hydronic distribution.
Electrical systems power the infrastructure, spanning energy generation, standby power systems, high and low-voltage distribution, lighting, security, access control, and critical asset monitoring.
Public Health engineering manages the safe delivery of clean water and the efficient removal of waste, comprising sanitaryware, above and below-ground drainage, and complex vertical systems designed to prevent environmental contamination.
• Property Developers seeking robust quality assurance and installation verification during construction projects, both large and small.
• Building Managers tasked with maintaining complex building services infrastructure and civic maintenance.
• Institutional Landlords and Estate Managers handling large-scale acquisitions or managing end-of-lease dilapidations.
• Sustainability Directors and Compliance Officers charged with meeting strict corporate energy reduction targets and statutory net carbon objectives.
A building can only perform as efficiently as its engineering systems allow. Independent engineering surveys and technical diagnostics bridge the gap between design theory and real-world operational performance.
Whether identifying hidden installation defects before practical completion, lack of maintenance by the incumbent facilities company or mapping out a multi-million-pound capital expenditure lifecycle plan, objective technical data ensures that financial, operational, and environmental decisions are fully validated.
Based in London and the South Coast, I operate as a fully mobile independent consultant, delivering specialist services directly on-site wherever my clients require them.
My work involves travelling extensively throughout the UK and Europe to conduct technical surveys, perform forensic diagnostics, and produce comprehensive reports.
This active, hands-on approach ensures that I am always available to deploy directly to your project location at short notice to investigate complex engineering and environmental issues first-hand.
Costs are agreed with the client beforehand and can be based on hourly time spent, day rates or Fixed Price Quotations (FPQ) to ensure complete flexibility.

Over the course of a rewarding forty-year career, I have been fortunate to work alongside a diverse range of public and private sector organisations. My work has focused on delivering critical, data-driven surveys and technical reports designed to establish sustainable buildings, modernise estates, and safeguard quality within prestigious developments.
From surveying individual London apartments to analysing Grade II listed commercial buildings in prime locations, I have provided the pivotal acquisition and condition reports that enable developers to proceed with confidence, ensuring they capitalise on opportunities while avoiding highly complex and costly pitfalls.
